The Edge (U2) Miniature Guitar Replica
The Edge (U2) - Miniature Guitar
David Howell Evans, better known by his stage name The Edge, was born in Barking on August 8th 1961. He is world famous as lead guitarist, keyboard player, backing vocalist and songwriter with one of the most successful Rock bands in the world today, U2.
The Edge has been a member of U2 since it's formation in 1976 and he has recorded 14 studio albums with the band, as well as one solo album. Born in England to a Welsh family, he was brought up in Ireland after his family moved there in the late 60s. While attending Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin he formed the Punk influenced band Dik with his elder brother (Dik) and fellow students. Dik would eventually evolve into U2 and world domination would soon follow.
The Edge would work on and develop his own his own highly distinctive sound and playing style by experimenting with a multitude of different effects. His sound would become an instantly recognisable and an indispensable part of the U2 sound for the next four decades. Whilst The Edge's sound may not be the most technically complicated compared to a lot of other lead players, his extensive use of multi-layered delays, echoes and reverbs takes a lot of work to achieve and has come to be one of the most distinctive guitar sounds in Rock.
