(Heartbreakers) Tom Petty: Rickenbacker - Guitar Miniature Replica
Tom Petty (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers) - 1965 Rickenbacker 360 12 Fireglo Miniature Guitar
Thomas (Tom) Earl Petty was born in Gainesville Florida on October 20th 1950 and died on October 2nd 2017, from an accidental overdose of prescription medication.
Petty was best known as a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and as frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, with whom he found fame in the mid 1970's. In the late 1980's Petty was a founder member of super group The Travelling Wilburys, which counted among it's members such legends as Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.
Petty's interest in Rock n' Roll was stirred at the tender age of 10 when he met Elvis Presley. His uncle was working on the set of Presley's movie, Follow That Dream, and he invited the young Tom along to watch the shoot. The meeting was to change the young Petty's life and set him off on his musical journey. Like thousands of other aspiring young musicians, Tom Petty was also heavily influenced by seeing the Beatles' legendary appearance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964. Seeing their performance made up his mind that being in a band was what he wanted to do above all else.
