Eddie Clarke Miniature Guitar Replica By Axman

Edward Allen Clarke, better known as 'Fast' Eddie Clarke was born in Twickenham on Oct 5th 1950 and died on 10th Jan 2018. Fast Eddie was lead guitarist and along with the late Lemmy and Phil 'Philthy' Taylor, one third of the legendary Rock band Motorhead.

Clarke began playing guitar at a young age and by the mid 70s, he had served his time in numerous bands of various genres. Along the way he had picked up his nickname, not for being a particularly fast player but for his ability 'to play one note in a solo really fast!' It was when he teamed up with Lemmy and Phil Taylor in 1977 to form the classic Motorhead line up that his career took off in earnest.

Nobody seems entirely sure what year Clarke's famous guitar was built but it is certainly the larger headstock 70s style. He left the original guitar single coil in the middle position but it was rarely if ever used. He fitted a custom mirror scratch plate to the guitar for reflecting back the stage lights.

The guitar had the standard alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard and it retained it's original guitar tremolo bridge system. Although his Deluxe remained his favourite guitar and would be the main instrument for all of Clarke's post-Motorhead projects, the guitar provided the perfect tonal foil to Lemmy's brutal Rickenbacker bass assault in Motorhead.

Fast Eddie remained with Motorhead until 1982, when a falling out over Lemmy's decision to record a cover of Tammy Wynette's Stand By Your Man led to his departure.
